Veelgestelde vragen

What is a normal blood sugar level?
A normal fasting blood sugar is below 100 mg/dL. Prediabetes is 100-125 mg/dL. Diabetes is diagnosed at 126 mg/dL or higher. For A1C, normal is below 5.7%, prediabetes is 5.7-6.4%, and diabetes is 6.5% or higher.
Can prediabetes be reversed?
Yes. The Diabetes Prevention Program study showed that lifestyle changes (losing 5-7% of body weight, 150 min/week of moderate exercise) reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58%.
How does diet affect blood sugar?
Refined carbohydrates and sugary foods cause rapid blood sugar spikes. Fiber, protein, and healthy fats slow glucose absorption. Consistent meal timing also helps regulate levels.
When should I get my blood sugar tested?
The ADA recommends screening starting at age 35, or earlier if you have risk factors like obesity, family history, gestational diabetes, PCOS, or belong to a high-risk ethnic group.
